Top Golf

Travis, Nathan, Dad and I all ponied up for a Groupon enhanced evening of fun at Top Golf.

I must say that it was really, really fun. Like a couple of rollercoasters, we each experienced our own high moments of pinpoint control followed closely and directly by deep and seemingly everlasting canyons of scorelessness. Let's just say that Tiger Woods doesn't have anything to worry about. Okay, that was a bad analogy.

The refreshments were tasty and came in a bucket. Hard to complain about that.

After slaying the dreaded Shankopotumus and exhausting our supply of chip-encoded golf balls, the only thing left to do was to sit back and watch Nathan shatter the shaft of his driver, thus enabling his big bertha club-head the freedom to fly out, unfettered, into the playing field. Yikes!

Personally, I think you got hosed. After detaching, that giant chunk of hardened steel flew straight out near the center ring of the middle target. The least they could have done was to award you some sympathy points.

The O'Neal Family Pumpkins

It's Halloween again, and that means carving pumpkins. This year we decided to have one big, traditional Jack-O-Lantern and two smaller ones with the kid's names on them.

One for Bella Bee . . .

And one for Mr. G . . .

Grant was a great helper and really had fun playing with the finished pumpkins while we took pictures.

Bella, on the other hand, just wanted to get right in the middle of the action. As usual.

Happy Halloween!

Christmas in the Mountains

I know I'm a bit late about getting these pictures up, but I wanted to post some of the shots from the O'Neal Family trip to Silverthorne.

We had a really great time hanging out and playing in the snow.

There were kiddos every-dang-where, but it actually wasn't all that bad. It kept us all on our toes for sure.

We opened presents, cooked lots of wonderful meals and even managed to leave the house on occasion to go skiing and/or sledding.

Thanks again, Mom and Dad for having us all together in such a nice house. The setting was really spectacular and amazingly - we all got along really well . . . even after the entire week together.

The Grantster

Not too much going on around here lately . . .

I did manage to take some pictures of the G Man, though.

He never ceases to surprise us with the things he says.

I guess he isn't our lil' baby any more.

Grand Lodge on Peak 7

Okay, I admit it . . . I hauled my skis and boots and poles and gear and junk and everything else up to Breckenridge thinking that I would undoubtedly get in at least one day of skiing, but totally and completely vegged out the entire weekend instead. This place is so luxurious that it seems silly to leave and go out into the snow. Why would you want to go skiing all day, when you can just hang out in the pool and enjoy all of the amenities.

Let me put it this way - Grant nicknamed this place "The Fancy House". That about sums it up.

If I had to come up with something negative about the trip it would only be that it's a tad difficult to breath at 10,000 feet above sea level after chasing kiddos around all afternoon.

But the views more than make up for the lack of oxygen.

And the best part is that you don't even need an imaginary camera to enjoy yourself, although it does help in documenting the occasion.

Here we are enjoying our own private movie theatre, complete with digital movie database, remote control lights and a pair of gigantic bean bags . . . for your viewing pleasure.

Before pulling out of town, we headed over to the local sledding hill for some cold-weather fun. Unfortunately, a hostile band of rabid yoga practitioners kicked Jen and Bella out of the only heated pavilion within walking distance. It's a long story and not one finely suited for a family-friendly blog like this one.

Thanks again, John and Carolyn - we all had a blast.
